ENDORPHIN.ES [ ɛnˈdɔː(r)fɪnz ] specializing in breaking age musical technology - manufacturer of eurorack modular, electronic musical synthesizers and effects pedals.
It was founded in 2010 by Andreas Zhukovsky: engineer, designer, and hardware developer of all Endorphin.es products.
The company takes its beginning in Kyiv, Ukraine where Andreas was born. Having electronic music production skills and mathematical master background, since 2008 he started to sketch his own synth DIY designs.
On 23rd of November 2010 he registered ‘endorphin.es’ domain name and @endorphin_es twitter account which defined the beginning of the company’s name.
The first synth prototype became of now-famous Furthrrrr Generator. The VCO in its design initially was inspired by Programmable Complex Waveform Generator Model 259. This vintage modular synthesizers were not accessible in a post-soviet environment, so the idea of Andreas was to bring newly accessible technology to himself in the rising eurorack format to make it more affordable for musicians and sound designers yet adding modern features like tuners and properly stable oscillators.
In 2011 Andreas moved to Vienna where next year in 2012 he finally makes the Furthrrrr Generator fully working. That was a signature product that combined two analog triangle core voltage controlled oscillators (VCO): modulator and carrier. Modulator is able to modulate the carrier by 4 modulation types: amplitude, balanced (or ring) modulation, frequency and waveshaper modulation, along with hard and soft synchronizations.
In 2013 Julia Bondar joins forces with Andreas and they register this activity officially in Kyiv, Ukraine with the company Endorphines and Associates Ltd. Since then the company started to manufacture and distribute Furthrrrr Generator to the music stores all over the world.
From 2013 to 2016 the company was located in Kyiv, Ukraine and continued to mix analog and digital approaches in the modules with the usage of ARM DSP processors to keep creating quality and unique sounding instruments with innovative features. That was relatively new approach for the eurorack modular niche in that time. It permitted to pack more functions in a smaller hardware form factor.
In 2016 the company moved to Barcelona, Spain, where they opened their first office / taller at Carrer de Mallorca, 636 and registered a new company with legal name Furth Barcelona, S. L. with officially registered trade mark doing business as ENDORPHIN.ES ®.
At Winter NAMM Show 2017 ENDORPHIN.ES releases Shuttle System which included 5 complex modules. The Shuttle becomes a flagship product with high build and unique sound quality. The Shuttle System includes the following 5 modules under a single faceplate which altogether create the whole instrument:
Shuttle Control: USB to MIDI to CV converter with 16 assignable control voltage outputs
Furthrrrr Generator: dual complex VCO with the waveshaper
Grand Terminal: dual envelope and dual multifilter module with effect processor
Gateway: dual utility mixer with auto-tuning VCO feature
Cockpit: 4-channel stereo mixer with side-chain ‘ducking’ feature.
In 2018 ENDORPHIN.ES releases Blck_Noir: 7 drum voices synthesizer, which was inspired by classic Roland ® CR-78 drum machine and minimal / dark wave music styles. Blck_Noir voices included signature tambourine, hi-hats and so called metallic beat sounds which were made using analog inductors. Blck_Noir became the first ENDORPHIN.ES module with the black satin anodized aluminum faceplate. Later on in that year ENDORPHIN.ES offered all previously released module in alternative black versions. For customers who want to customize already purchased modules, replacement panels and knobs are available directly from the manufacturer.
In 2019 ENDORPHIN.ES launched a range of new 6hp series modules:
Airstreamer: envelope generator with variable slope curves, 3 modes (looping, ASR, AD), 1v/oct input, slew processing input and VCA working on a highly efficient sample-rate
Godspeed: thru-zero VCO with auto-tuning, octave shift, modulation index and wavefolder
Squawk Dirty To Me: stereo digital zero-delay feedback multimode filter with additional high-pass filter and stereo spread
Milky Way: stereo effect processor with 16 audio effects in 2 banks with panning / crossfade and a VCA
2HP Power: not a 6hp series, but 2hp power supply module released together with the series above.
In January 2020 ENDORPHIN.ES relocates to the new office at Carrer de Llull 57 in Barcelona - in an industrial and creative Poble Nou area of the city.
During 2020 the following modules were developed and released:
Queen of Pentacles: flagship drum module with 3 analog voices (bass drum, snare and clap) inspired by Roland ® TR-909 drum machine and 4 sample-based zero-latency playback voices. Factory sample-bank was made in collaboration with famous French-Canadian Berlin-based techno artist Nicolas Bougaïeff, co-founder of Liine.
That module was rated as Best Eurorack Modules Of 2020 by Perfect Circuit and voted as 10 best new Eurorack modules of 2020 by Musicradar.
Running Order: 6hp series trigger / patterns / euclidean generator.
Cockpit 2: updated 6hp series Cockpit with increased headroom and colorblind-friendly red-blue color LEDs design.
During the 2021 ENDORPHIN.ES continue to release revolutionary modules:
Ground Control: 42hp long awaited modular sequencer workstation
Golden Master: 6hp multiband / final output module
Two of Cups: 6hp 2-channel sample player with factory sample bank by Julia Bondar.
Total Recall: 6hp 3-channel CV/macro controller
During Superbooth 2021 they announce three following modules under Intellijel 1U format:
Cockpit 1U / Golden Master 1U / Milky Way 1U
New minimalistic and fresh industrial look: in Winter 2022 ENDORPHIN.ES introduced all the modules in a new silver metalphoto panel design, as well as the new ENDORPHIN.ES logo and design code. Panels and knobs can be purchased separately via ENDORPHIN.ES Merch Store.
In October 2022 ENDORPHIN.ES released GHOST in collaboration with Andrew Huang - a creative audio processor based on his modern music production techniques, with multiple blocks that can be moved around in order to achieve different flavors for sound design. The GHOST was announced during the Superbooth 2022 along with two more modules: Running Order 1U and Airstreamer 4 which were released afterwards in November 2022.
NAMM 2023 & Superbooth’23: ENDORPHIN.ES announce GHOST Pedal and Golden Master Pedal - standalone and fully reworked versions of famous eurorack effect modules but made especially for guitar, bassists and of course synthesizers players looking to expand their sonic horizons. Pedals became available on 17th of October 2023.
